Intended Use: TBA reagent is intended for quantitative in vitro determination of TBA concentration in serum or plasma on photometric systems and auxiliary diagnosis for hepatobilitary diseases on clinic. Bile acid mainly exists in enterohepatic circulatory system and functions in the protection of recycle to some degree. It’s synthesized in the liver, and discharged into enteric cavity with bile, using for the digestion and absorption of fat. After acting with bacterium in the intestinal tract, more than 95% of bile acid will be reabsorbed by small intestine and turns back to the liver, namely the enterohepatic circulation of bile acid. Therefore, the detection of bile acid in blood is a reflection of the hepatocyte synthesis, the absorbing and secreting functions, and biliary excretion functions. The increasing concentration of TBA in serum used to be seen in oxyhepatitis, CAH (chronic active hepatitis), cirrhosis, hepatonecrosis, liver cancer, toxic hepatopathy, cholestatic cirrhosis, gall-stone, biliary duct cancer and pancreatic head carcinoma.
